Researchware, Inc.

Simply Powerful Tools for Qualitative Research

How much do you charge for updates?

Researchware does not charge for minor updates (such as the update from HyperRESEARCH 3.0 to 3.03 or even to 3.5; or from HyperTRANSCRIBE 1.5 to 1.5.1). To update to the current version from version 3.x, download the software and then use your license key (if necessary) to fully enable it.

We do charge an upgrade fee for major upgrades (such as the upgrade from 2.x to 3.0 or to 3.5). In general, a major upgrade is one in which the first digit of the version number changes.

HyperRESEARCH 3.0 introduced tiered pricing (bringing our software in line with our competitors' pricing structures while remaining at a much lower cost). HyperRESEARCH 3.5 revises those costs, introducing the Government/Nonprofit pricing tier and offering volume discounts when purchasing as few as 2 copies of our software.

The cost to purchase an upgrade or a full copy will thus depend on your status as a Commercial purchaser, a Government / Nonprofit purchaser, and Educational purchaser, or a student.

Do You Know...

... that you can change the length of the segment that HyperTRANSCRIBE plays? Choose the Preferences menu item, and change the number of "Seconds to Play When Advancing". From now on, HyperTRANSCRIBE will play a segment of the new length when you press Shift-Space or when you press Tab to advance to the next segment.

Adjusting the segment length can help make your transcribing process more efficient. For example, if you often need to replay the segment before advancing to the next, try making the segment length shorter so that you can transcribe an entire segment in one pass. On the other hand, if you find it very easy to finish transcribing each segment without replaying it, making the segment length longer may improve your rate.
