Download HyperTRANSCRIBE

Download HyperTRANSCRIBE™

If you want to try out HyperTRANSCRIBE: You may download the demo for free. Once installed, the demo has all of its features fully enabled except:

  • The Save, Export, Copy, and Print commands are disabled.
  • Drag and drop from HyperTRANSCRIBE to other programs is disabled.

To continue your work without these limitations, purchase a license using the Buy Now link under the Sales menu. Once you enter your license key, the ability to Save, Export, Copy, Print, and Drag and Drop are enabled with a licensed copy.

If you have just purchased HyperTRANSCRIBE and want to download it: First download the demo version appropriate to your operating system and install it. When you start up the demo, it asks whether you want to enter a license key or continue in demo mode. The license key was emailed to you when you purchased HyperTRANSCRIBE. Once you enter your license key, the program removes all the demo limitations and transforms itself into the full edition.

If you are upgrading HyperTRANSCRIBE from a previous version: Check your license key first to find out whether you need to upgrade. License keys for versions prior to 2.0.0 do not work with the current version of HyperTRANSCRIBE.

  • If your key has UPPERCASE characters beginning with "HT" (e.g. HTXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX), your license key is compatible with the current version of HyperTRANSCRIBE (version 2.x.x).
  • If your key has UPPERCASE characters beginning with "T" (e.g. TXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX), your license key is compatible with the 1.x.x versions of HyperTRANSCRIBE (version 1.6.1 being the last). You will need to purchase an upgrade for a new license key for HyperTRANSCRIBE 2.x.x

If you are upgrading HyperTRANSCRIBE from version 1.x.x (e.g. 1.6.1): Purchase a license key at our special upgrade price. Use the Buy Now link under the Sales menu, choose the pricing tier you are eligible for, and add one HyperTRANSCRIBE Upgrade to your cart. (For institutional orders requiring a purchase order and/or orders for 2 or more licenses at upgrade pricing: contact sales@researchware.com.) After submitting your order, you will receive an email containing a new HyperTRANSCRIBE 2.x.x license key. Next, download the demo version and install it. (No need to re-install if you have already installed the demo of HyperTRANSCRIBE.) When the program asks for a license key, enter your new key to fully enable HyperTRANSCRIBE.

ATTENTION macOS Catalina (10.15.x), Big Sur (11.1.x), Monterey (12.x.x), Ventura (13.x.x), and Sonoma (14.x.x) USERS

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE DOWNLOADING

Apple's Catalina and higher operating systems use the concept of application entitlements and user permissions and approvals to enhance security. This feature changes with nearly every maintenance release for these versions of the macOS. To ensure that HyperTRANSCRIBE can run under either of these macOS versions, please adhere to the following installation instructions:

1) Download the .dmg file for our Installer for macOS below, and run the installer. You may be warned that the installer is downloaded from the Internet. If you see this warning, click "Open" to run the installer.

2) On the LAST screen of the Installer, there are special instructions for Catalina and higher users. Please read and follow them. They will guide you to grant HyperTRANSCRIBE "Full Disk Access" permission before Finishing the Installer and launching HyperTRANSCRIBE.

The steps the Installer will ask you to perform are:

  1. Go to the Apple (menu) > System Preferences (menu item) > Security & Privacy (control) > Privacy (tab).
  2. Scroll down the list of Privacy items until you see "Full Disk Access" and select "Full Disk Access".
  3. Click the Unlock icon in the bottom left of the window and enter your password.
  4. Now click the "+" icon under the list of applications with full disk access.
  5. You will get a file selection dialog. Navigate to where HyperTRANSCRIBE was installed (by default a folder named "HyperTRANSCRIBE 2.0.1" in the Applications folder) and select the HyperTRANSCRIBE application itself.

You have now granted HyperTRANSCRIBE full disk access which supersedes specific access requests with their individual "allow" and "deny" buttons. You can then Finish installation.

The new security features of Catalina, and higher versions, of macOS are user "entitlements" to specify access to certain services. Our applications need specific entitlements for access:

  • Access to the Internet. This is to check for new versions and updates, and for license management.
  • Access to the "Finder." This is to receive AppleEvents (system messages) if a HyperTRANSCRIBE transcription file is double-clicked or dragged-and-dropped on HyperTRANSCRIBE to open the file.
  • Access to send an email, which sometime shows as access to your "Contacts." This is for access to your email client in order to send a Problem Report to Researchware if an error occurs in HyperTRANSCRIBE. You will always be prompted whether or not to send any such email. HyperTRANSCRIBE does not access any names or addresses.

With new maintenance releases of Catalina or higher, you may see new variants of these requests or other requests for access. Please allow (click "OK") all such requests so HyperTRANSCRIBE can function properly.

Do You Know...

... that if you use HyperTRANSCRIBE to create your transcriptions, you can use the document as a source in HyperRESEARCH? The transcription can be coded just like any other text document, and a pane at the top of the window shows the original video or audio file. Click a time code in the transcription to go to that point in the video or audio, and play it while scanning and coding the text.

By using a HyperTRANSCRIBE document, you can get all the benefits of working with a text transcript (precision, easy scanning, searchability) while keeping the benefits of having the original media file (emotional context and subtleties that may not come through in a transcription). Work with all your senses and with multiple modalities, to get new insights and better mastery of the source material.
