Lost Study

Thank you for contacting us.

The "lost studies" problem is usually due to the study files on your computer (or a server or DropBox, etc.) being renamed or moved. This causes HyperRESEARCH to "forget" where they are.

The "Recent Studies" list shown on HyperRESEARCH's Welcome screen consists of "hyperlinks" that essentially link to the last known locations of the studies you've most recently opened. If you change the name or location of the study, or change the name of any of the nested folders the study file is within, it will no longer be able to link to that file. The "file name path" that HyperRESEARCH uses to locate study files and source files has changed.

An example of a file name path: Documents/My Research Files/HyperRESEARCH Files/myhyperresearchstudy.hs2

Your study file is likely still accessible (unless you deleted it). You just need to find it and open it in HyperRESEARCH to have the software update the hyperlink to the current location for that source file.

Do you know how to use your computer's Search function to find files? You can search on the phrase ".hs2".... This is the file name extension used for HyperRESEARCH study files.

Once you know where the missing study file is, take note of its location (i.e. file name path) so you know right where it is within your folder/file hierarchy. Then launch HyperRESEARCH and choose Open Other Study. Navigate to that location, and select the study file... and you're good to go. It will re-appear in your Recent Studies list.

Does that help?
