ResearchWare Releases HyperRESEARCH 2.8.2

BOSTON, Massachusetts - April 29, 2009
ResearchWare, Inc. today released HyperRESEARCH 2.8.2, a multi-platform software package for qualitative analysis research. The maintenance release features optimized performance on both Windows Vista and Macintosh computers, and includes improvements to reporting and printing features, and more.

HyperRESEARCH is used by researchers in social science research, psychology, usability, and corporate marketing to identify and analyze patterns and trends among qualitative data from a variety of media file types, including text, images, audio and video. Using intuitive tools like case cards, codes and annotations, HyperRESEARCH is popular for its ease of use. It remains one of the few qualitative research products actively developed for both Mac OS and Windows platforms. HyperRESEARCH study and source files are fully cross-platform so users can trade work regardless of which operating system they're using.

HyperRESEARCH 2.8.2 is available for download at the publisher's Web site: <http://www.ResearchWare.com/hr/downloads.html>.

The freely downloadable version of HyperRESEARCH 2.8.2 has all features enabled with no time limits. Without a purchased registration code the only restrictions are limits on the number of codes and cases in the study, making the free version suitable for evaluation and teaching. A single-user license costs US$370, with discounts available for volume purchases and grad students. Registered users of HyperRESEARCH 2.0 or later can upgrade to version 2.8.2 for free. See the ResearchWare Web site at <http://www.researchware.com> for details.

Customers can also purchase HyperRESEARCH in a promotional bundle with HyperTRANSCRIBE, ResearchWare's software for transcribing audio and video. HyperTRANSCRIBE sells for US$99 when sold separately, but this bundle offer delivers both products for only $399, a savings of $70.

HyperRESEARCH 2.8.2 requires Windows NT/2000/ME/XP/Vista or Mac OS X 10.3 or later, with a minimum of 128 MB total memory and 20 MB disk space.

The intersection between race/ethnicity and caring explored using HyperRESEARCH

Rosalie Rolón-Dow of the University of Delaware has published "Critical Care: A Color(full) Analysis of Care Narratives in the Schooling Experiences of Puerto Rican Girls" in the American Educational Research Journal, Vol. 42, No. 1, pp 77-111 (2005). In this article, the author explores the intersection between race/ethnicity and caring in the educational experiences of middle school Puerto Rican girls. Critical race theory and Latino/Latina critical theory are used as data analysis frameworks because of their emphasis on the roles of race/ethnicity and racism in shaping the circumstances of individuals and institutions. The author calls for a color(full) critical care praxis that is grounded in a historical understanding of students’ lives; translates race-conscious ideological and political orientations into pedagogical approaches that benefit Latino/a students; uses caring counternarratives to provide more intimate, caring connections between teachers and the Latino communities where they work; and pays attention to caring at both the individual and institutional levels. The author also note in this paper that "... Hyperresearch, was helpful in coding the data, generating reports for each data code/theme, and revealing patterns of connectedness between data codes.". The article can be accessed online here.
