Dr. Sharlene Hesse-Biber's Book Gains Great Reviews
Last year we announced that Researchware Cofounder, Dr. Sharlene Hesse-Biber, had a new book out, "The Handbook of Emergent Technologies in Social Research" (see here for our announcement). We are very pleased to say the book has been receiving rave reviews. The latest such appears in Journal of Social Research & Policy, Volume: 2, Issue: 2. As the reviewer, Raluca Buhaş, states "The structure of the volume, its wide spectrum of solid and scientific information and the reputation of the contributors recommend The Handbook as being one of the starting points for documentation, understanding and applying emergent technologies in social research."

At Researchware, we love what we do. Our simply powerful tools for qualitative research are helping to make the world a better place in many different areas of research. We routinely search the Internet for tidbits about what people are up to with HyperRESEARCH or HyperTRANSCRIBE. In one of our searches we came across an inspiring story, one we really wanted to share.
Catalina Talero, while conducting research in Bogotá, Colombia, was kidnapped and robbed. You can read her own tale of her abduction and her amazing clear-headedness at dealing with and ultimately extricating herself from the situation at her blog.
This tale surfaced in our search because Catalina mentions HyperRESEARCH in her blog, as one of the items she was saving her money for. Well, she eventually got HyperRESEARCH and continued her research and has moved on to many amazing successes.
We got in touch with her to ask her a few questions about her work before and after her experience.
Researchware Cofounder on Mixed Methods
We are very proud at Researchware that, back in October, Researchware cofounder Dr. Sharlene Hesse-Biber was awarded Sage Press "Most Downloaded Article" award for an article she wrote on approaching mixed methods research. You can see our post about the award, with links to Sharlene's mixed method article, here. We recently came across an review and opinion piece on Sharlene's "Most Downloaded Article" that provides an excellent summary of the point Sharlene makes about mixed methods research, namely that each methodology informs the researcher about the reality of the other. Check out this summary at http://researchdesignreview.com/2011/11/15/multiple-research-methods-the-complex-mosaic-of-human-reality/.
Researchware at the American Evaluation Association's Annual Meeting
Researchware attended the 25th Annual Meeting of the American Evaluation Association in Anaheim, California recently. We were delighted by the response we received, with people from around the world stopping by our booth.
The conference was Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 3-5, but there were pre-conference workshops running earlier in the week. We arrived Tuesday, so we could set up and meet people attending the pre-conference workshops on Wednesday.
We had a great mix of long time customers and people completely new to qualitative analysis software stopping by for demonstrations, conversations, or just to drop a card in our raffle for a free HyperBUNDLE.
