Simply Powerful Tools for Qualitative Research

What are your licensing terms?

When you purchase our software (HyperRESEARCH or HyperTRANSCRIBE, or both together as a HyperBUNDLE), what you're actually purchasing is a "license key."

A valid license key will activate the full versions of the software on any platform (Macintosh or Windows) that we support. Simply download the Macintosh installer for installation on a Macintosh computer, and the Windows installer for installation on a Windows computer. The same license key can unlock either or both versions of the software. The downloads are the same downloads as the "trial versions," so if you've already downloaded and installed the trial or demo software, simply use the license key to "unlock" the software.

A valid license key "unlocks" the downloadable "free trial" versions of our software, removing trial version limits on numbers of codes and cases for HyperRESEARCH and allowing saving and printing in HyperTRANSCRIBE.

A valid license key is perpetual, meaning that if it unlocks a specific version of our software it will always unlock that version. It will also unlock any free updates (new versions) of the software. A major update with a fee associated with it will require a new license key to unlock.

The license is for concurrent use. This means that each license can be used on either a 'per user' basis (one user can install it on multiple computers - any mix of Macintosh or Windows -- provided only one copy is in use at a time) or a 'per seat' basis (install on a single computer and anyone with access to that computer can use it, or use key server technology to limit the number of concurrent users on a network). Nothing technically prevents you from using your license key to install and unlock our software on any number of computers of any mix of platforms (Mac/Win), it's on the honor system! Please adhere to the spirit in which we license our software. Install it where and on what platforms you need to for your use to do your work. However, you should ensure that you have purchased sufficient licenses to cover all concurrent users. If someone else is going to be using your license key at the same time as you, then they (or you) should buy another license.

The following are the End User License Agreements (EULA) you are agreeing to by using our software:

Researchware Software License Terms

HYPERRESEARCH SOFTWARE LICENSE TERMS

This software license is a legal agreement (the "Agreement") between ResearchWare, Inc. and you, an organizational or individual user of HyperRESEARCH Free Limited Edition or HyperRESEARCH Full Edition. This Agreement applies to all parts of the HyperRESEARCH software (the “Software”): the HyperRESEARCH program, its documentation, its tools, its Installer, its license keys, and any other software, physical media, or printed information that is part of the HyperRESEARCH Software.

Read this Agreement carefully before installing the Software, because if you install, copy, or use the Software, you are agreeing to be bound by this Agreement. If you do not want to be bound by this Agreement, do not install or use the Software.

"Free Limited Edition" means an unlicensed copy of HyperRESEARCH, into which no license key has been entered. The Free Limited Edition limits the amount and type of data that can be entered. You can enter and purchase a license key to remove these limitations.

"Full Edition" means a copy of HyperRESEARCH which has been unlocked by entering a license key. There are no limitations on the amount or type of data that can be entered into a Full Edition.

If you have any questions about this Agreement, please contact ResearchWare, Inc.

License Grants: What You Can Do

You may install and use the Software on one or more personal computers or other compatible devices for your own use.

You may allow someone else to use your copy of the Full Edition, but only if no more than one copy of the Full Edition is in use at a time. If more than one person is using the Full Edition at any time, each person must have his or her own license.

You may give someone else a copy of the Installer so that they can install the Free Limited Edition. You may also distribute the Installer via Internet site, CD-ROM collection, or bundling with books or magazines. (However, you may not charge for the Installer, and it must be complete and unmodified.)

You may make any number of backup copies of the Installer.

You may install and use the Full Edition on a network server, but only if the network server implements the appropriate software or procedures so that the number of simultaneous users is limited to the number of licenses you own.

License Restrictions: What You Cannot Do

You may not use (or allow others to use) more than one of your copies of the Full Edition at a time, unless you have purchased enough licenses for each simultaneously-used copy.

You may not give someone else a copy of the Full Edition with your license key entered.

You may not share your license key with anyone else. (If the purchaser is an organization, the organization may assign and reassign license keys among its members, as long as no more than one copy per license is in use at a time.)

You may not copy any part of the Software or distribute copies, except for copies of the complete and unmodified Installer. You may not distribute a copy of the Installer that you have modified. You may not charge for the Installer.

You may not copy, distribute, or show anyone any copies of any part of the Software that you have modified in any way. This includes translating, adapting, or making any other changes to any part of the Software.

You may not decompile the Software, reverse engineer it, or otherwise try to read or duplicate its programming logic.

You may not export the Software into any country into which export is prohibited by the United States Export Administration Act and the regulations issued under this Act.

If you violate any of these license restrictions, ResearchWare may terminate your license. In this case, you must return or destroy all copies of any part of the Software, including the HyperRESEARCH program, its documentation, its tools, its Installer, its license keys, and any other software, physical media, or printed information that is part of HyperRESEARCH.

License Grants

The following are the only rights that this Single-User License grants you:

  • You may install and use the Software on one or more personal computers for your own use, provided that only one such copy of the Software is in use at any given time.
  • You may install and use the Software on a network server, provided that the network Software, license management software, or any procedural control installed on the network is acting to limit the number of simultaneous users of the Software to the number of licenses that you have purchased.
  • You may make one copy of the Software for backup purposes, irrespective of whether the Software is installed on a personal computer or network server.

It is your obligation to take whatever procedural or technological steps are required in your computing environment(s) to ensure compliance with the above License Grants.

The Software must be used in accordance with these Restrictions:

  • Other than as set forth in “License Grants” (above), you may not install or use the Software concurrently on different computers.

  • You may not make or distribute copies of the Software, nor may you electronically transfer the Software from one computer to another or over a network, unless you have purchased the number of individual licenses required for the number of computers the Software will run on.
  • You may not alter, merge, modify, adapt, or translate the Software.
  • You may not decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, or otherwise reduce the Software to a human-perceivable form.

  • You may not modify the Software or create derivative works based on the Software.
  • You may not export the Software into any country prohibited by the United States Export Administration Act and all regulations thereunder.
  • In the event that you fail to comply with this EULA, ResearchWare may terminate the license and you must destroy all copies of the Software. All other rights of both parties and all other provisions of this EULA survive any such termination of license of rights.

Ownership

The foregoing license grants you a limited license to use the Software. ResearchWare retains all other rights, title, and interest, including all copyright and intellectual property rights, in and to the Software and all copies thereof. All rights not specifically granted in this EULA, including Federal and International Copyrights, are reserved by ResearchWare.
